Andy Munro watches Blues get back to winning ways at home to Lincoln City.
Blues had to work hard to break down a determined Lincoln City side but got the job done in the end. It was never easy against a well-organised opposition but the stats say it all, with Blues having 75 per cent of the play and thirteen shots to Lincoln’s six, of which none of the latter were on target.
The Blues defence was, as usual, dominant and of course were bolstered by the welcome return of Ryan Allsop who, equally as usual, didn’t put a foot wrong either in or out of possession.
In front of them Paik Seung-ho and Tomoki Iwata were cool in possession with Iwata earning Blues a welcome penalty when he was hauled down. Kieran Dowell then smashed what proved to be the winning goal into the roof of the net.
In fairness, Chris Davies made good use of his substitutes, of which undoubtedly Keshi Anderson made the biggest impression – continually taking on his man, something Emil Hansson seemed reluctant to do. In midfield, Taylor Gardner-Hickman was more than tidy restored to his more comfortable midfield position whilst up top Jay Stansfield worked hard but with little reward, despite working the Lincoln keeper a couple of times.
Overall, it was a decent if unspectacular win and it’s got Blues back in the swing of things without setting the world alight.
