Terriers tamed in training camp

Andy Munro sees Blues begin their pre-season friendlies with a win against Huddersfield Town.

Blues got their pre-season programme underway in Portugal, beating League One Huddersfield fairly comfortably and that’s a phrase that we are probably unlikely to use after the upcoming match against Barca!

Demarai Gray opened the scoring after hammering home his initial penalty miss and more importantly it was Kyōgo Furuhashi who was the second-half star with a brace that may prove he’s not a busted flush after all. Let’s hope that’s the case.

Naturally enough given the circumstances Blues did field a couple of untried youngsters who did themselves no harm, although it would be nice to think that they could form part of the matchday squad in due course rather than being shunted off to somewhere like Cheltenham, never to be seen again.

As regards the more senior players, Patrick Roberts put in a superb cameo whilst new signing John Solis continued his upward trajectory. Maybe, all we need is another reserve keeper and of course a decent and mobile centre-forward to take the weight off Jay Stansfield’s shoulders .

Early days but so far, reasons to be fairly cheerful!
