Birmingham Wine Weekend set to be a corker

Corks will be popping around the city.

After months of planning, prepping, and patiently waiting, Birmingham Wine Weekend will be back this weekend: more of the city’s best-loved bars, more exciting one-off events and most importantly, more wine! Aimed at novices, connoisseurs and everyone in-between, the three-day spectacular will see over 20 of the city’s best venues offer up two taster wines exclusively for festival goers, as well as a host of exciting events, tasters and more.

From 22nd-24th March, Birmingham Wine Weekend will see wine-lovers from far and wide embark upon the city for the second year of this much loved festival. The three-day event gives wristband wearers the opportunity to try glasses of premium wine for just £4. This year, the festival is taking things to new heights, shaking up what’s on offer with the introduction of wine cocktails and food-pairings, and of course a stellar line-up of exclusive events from tempting tastings to delicious dinners.

Award-winning hotel, Hotel du Vin, leads the line-up as the home of the festival, hosting the Birmingham Wine Weekend Hub once again. #BWW2019 festival-goers will be able to collect their wristbands from Wine Weekend Hub at Hotel du Vin, where they’ll be bestowed their guide – complete with map, event listings, and handy icons to give you a sneak-peek at what they can expect from each venue.

If you’re feeling keen, the Hub will be open on Thursday between midday and 2pm, allowing festival-goers to jump straight into the grape adventure on Friday. If not, wine-lovers can come and collect between midday and 8pm on Friday and Saturday, or even between midday and 2pm on Sunday.

From here, the city is your wine cellar to uncork. There are 46 serves in total, covering red and white (and all in between!), fortified, cocktails, and food pairings, so there is truly something to delight – and surprise – every palette.

What’s more, the stellar line-up of exclusive events covers tempting tastings to delicious dinners. The wine events are interactive, interesting, and inclusive, from pairing and trying, to literally singing and dancing.

#BWW2019 will be hosting masterclasses on how to make wine cocktails; guided tastings with wines paired to paintings at stunning BMAG; and a chance to find your new favourite wine. Tickets are limited, so while you wait for the weekend, check the full schedule on the bmag and get booking to avoid disappointment.

Wristbands are priced at £10 and give the wearer access to £4 taster glasses, £4 wine cocktails and even £6 wine and canapé pairings (selected venues only), as well as access to a host of special events. Wristbands are available to purchase here.
