Capture Kings Heath and win

Local photographers invited to dig out their cameras this spring.

Kings Heath Business Improvement District is celebrating Spring with the Capture Kings Heath Competition ~ Spring Edition for budding local photographers and Instagrammers throughout April.

The popular competition invites amateur photographers to enter their best images of the suburb throughout the season, with some stunning images of the area’s local parks, bustling High Street and interesting architecture having already been submitted.

Now in it’s second year, this year’s competition will give entrants two chances of winning, with a popular vote via the Enjoy Kings Heath social media channels and ‘udges choice both offering the lucky winners £75 cash prize, as well as gaining some great exposure.

With only two weeks left of the competition and the recent spell of sunny weather in Birmingham, organisers are encouraging budding photographers to show off their skills by getting involved before the competition closes on 1st May 2017.

Town Centre Manager Martin Mullaney explains; “The Capture Kings Heath competition is a great way to celebrate the talent we have in the area and will give the budding photographers out there a chance to show off our wonderful town, as well as their skills!

“We were truly impressed with last years competition and the high standard of photographs entered. The stunning selection of images really captured all aspects of Kings Heath, and showed what a fantastic, vibrant part of Birmingham it is, and what talented and creative people live, work and visit here. We are already so impressed with the entries we have received so far this year, and can’t wait to see more entered over the next two weeks…so get out there and get snapping!”

Last years competition, which launched to mark World Photography Day in August, saw talented local photographer Richard Cartwright secure the winning shot, the community’s much-loved Kings Heath Village Square and All Saints Church set against an impressive sky.

With over eighty entries submitted by local amateur photographers, Richards shot battled stiff competition and received almost 300 public votes via the Enjoy Kings Heath Facebook page, winning him a selection of prizes generously donated by Kings Heath businesses, including; a canvas of the winning image from Precision Imaging, a personalised mug and keyring from Doodlesplash, prints from Kodak Express and Max Spielman vouchers.

Kings Heath BID hopes that the competition will capture the best of the unique and varied suburb, from green open spaces to urban city streets, and showcase its diverse and vibrant culture and daily lives of residents.

Entrants are allowed to submit as many images as they like before the competition closes on 1st May 2017. All entries will then be put to an online public vote via the Enjoy Kings Heath Facebook page, and the two winners will be announced on Monday 15th May.
