Fort shoots and scores with local football team

Shopping park joins forces with Sunday League team to put on fun family football event.

The Fort Shopping Park has announced that they will be holding a football fun day for families with local Sunday League team, Concords United. The Fort has provided the team with a sponsorship donation of £500 enabling them to buy new tracksuits for the players to wear for training and matches.

On Saturday 24th October, between 11am and 3:30pm, players of Concords United will be inviting families to join them at the Fort and take part in some fun football activities, to raise money for the team as well as the Fort’s charity partner Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. Shoppers can expect to put their dribbling and shooting skills to the test with the help of the Concords United team. There will be prizes up for grabs so participants will be encouraged not to hold back in showing off their footy skills!

Concords United was founded in 2014 due to a number of Castle Vale open age male teams folding. Upon announcing open trials in June 2014, over 35 players of all ages turned up to try out. The Castle Vale based team are currently in the Festival League and play football in the surroundings of the Vale Stadium. Due to their success as a club, next season Concords United will be branching out and adding an Under 9s team, with trials likely to start during summer 2016.
