Maintenance volunteers go the distance for Birmingham homeless charity

Three teams of employees from Willmott Dixon Partnerships have joined forces to raise money for St Basil’s.

Ten volunteers from the repairs and maintenance specialists South Birmingham, North Birmingham and Constructing West Midlands branches tackled St Basils Annual Walk Challenge on Saturday 14 June.

The teams completed a challenging 13 mile route through the Forest of Dean, whilst hoping to raise over £1000 for the charity.

St Basils works with young people across Birmingham and North Worcestershire to help them to find and manage a home, develop their confidence and skills and to prevent homelessness.

Willmott Dixon’s commitment to St Basil’s is emphasised by its long term relationship with the charity and dedication to local community causes. Willmott Dixon has previously worked with St Basil’s on events ranging from DIY training with young residents, to the donation of Christmas trees and decorations as part of the charities accommodation schemes.

Willmott Dixon’s Customer and Community Partner Melanie Checkley said: “We have a long term relationship with St Basil’s and are proud to be supporting them by taking part in their annual walk challenge. This is the third year that we’ve tackled the walk and it’s been our most successful yet – all of our volunteers have worked really hard to beat last year’s fundraising target.

“St Basil’s work is vital in helping young people gain access to a home and future work opportunities across the Birmingham area. We’re happy to be able to build on our excellent relationship with the charity and are already looking forward to next year’s challenge. We would also like to thank our uniform suppliers GB Chemicals, who kitted us out with t-shirts for the walk.”

Lucy Hackett, Head of Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships at St Basil’s added: “We’re so pleased to see staff from Willmott Dixon taking part in our annual walking challenge once again. It’s support from organisations such as Willmott Dixon that can help young people and young families in the local community. We are very grateful for their continued support”.
