Aston Villa Football Club, Conference Aston and Warwick Conferences, all partners of the city’s business tourism programme Meet Birmingham, are among the finalists to have been announced by M&IT, one of the UK’s leading industry magazines, for its annual awards ceremony. The prestigious national event, the oldest established awards programme in the meetings industry, brings together sectors of the business tourism market to reward excellence of service and product. The ceremony features a total of 21 awards, including 19 voted for by the readers of M&IT.

Aston Villa Football Club, offering a range of executive boxes, suites, restaurants and lounges across the four stands of its Villa Park stadium, will be seeking to add to the bronze picked up at the 2012 Awards in the “Best UK Unusual Venue” category. The club is up against Alton Towers, Battersea Evolution, The Gherkin and The Monastery Manchester.

Alison Plant, Head of Hospitality and Events at Aston Villa, said: “Villa Park is such a unique venue and we are proud to be able to host and deliver really memorable events for our clients and guests.  It’s great to be recognised for this with an award nomination.”

Conference Aston, with a portfolio of conference and meeting venues, restaurants and accommodation at the heart of the Aston University campus, has been nominated for “Best Academic Venue”.

Paul Bunce, Marketing Manager at Conference Aston, commented: “We’re delighted that our customers have taken the time to vote for us in the 2013 M&IT Industry Awards after one of our busiest years, welcoming many new and existing clients to Birmingham and the conference centres. We look forward to the awards ceremony in March.”

The Conference Park at Warwick Conferences is celebrating four nominations to complement its triple success at last year’s ceremony. Warwick Conferences, which boasts one of the UK’s widest choices of meeting space for up to 1,200 delegates, features in the categories of “Best Academic Venue”, “Best UK Conference Centre”, “Best UK Management Training Centre” and “Best Value for Money”.

Ian Taylor, Commercial Director at Marketing Birmingham, the city’s strategic marketing partnership which operates Birmingham’s business tourism programme Meet Birmingham, added: “These nominations reflect the hard work carried out by business tourism providers across the region to deliver successful events for organisers and their delegates.

Throughout 2013, Meet Birmingham will be continuing to showcase the region’s conferencing offer and new developments to guests at both national and international exhibitions, including The Meetings Show and IMEX.”

This year’s M&IT Industry Awards ceremony takes place on Tuesday 19th March at Battersea Evolution in London.
