Andy Munro is relieved after Blues beat QPR 2-1.
The fat lady must have been clearing her throat when Blues pulled the proverbial fat out of the fire late on against Queens Park Rangers. In fairness, to lose after such an excellent first half performance would have been a travesty but yet another goal against us by Mr. Austin looked ominous. Yet again we had huffed and puffed despite having the lion’s share of the play and I still remain to be convinced about the advisability of Scott Hogan up front without a strike partner, or at least a number ten.
However, it would be a bit churlish to moan too much after such a vital win against an in-form team. Yet, it has to be said that in every match the defence seem to lose concentration and consequently their man with disastrous consequences. On the plus side however, we seem to have found an excellent midfield blend with Ivan Sunjic, Rekeem Harper and Gary Gardner. Maybe the final bit of finessing would be playing a number ten or another forward and putting one of the wingers on the bench to bring on when the game is stretched.
Either way, Alen Halilovic’s spectacular strike must put him at the head of the number ten queue and Kristian Pedersen’s equaliser was the highspot of a display which shows he is now finding the form that once brought a £6 million bid from Watford. It’s interesting to note that in the last fortnight both players have had a one to one with Aiator Karanka, which shows just how important a manager’s influence can be when used properly. It was also interesting to note that we have won two out of three games since Karanka ditched his tinkerman/rotation policy. Hallelujah!
Next job up is to try and tame the Terriers.
