Family favourites take to the giant screen this month.
Film fans of all ages will be able to catch a new selection of cinematic classics on Millennium Point’s giant screen, as its socially-distanced cinema returns this August bank holiday.
Following a successful debut of screenings last month, the venue’s Auditorium (formerly the IMAX cinema) will kick off the bank holiday weekend with cinematic masterpiece The Shawshank Redemption on Thursday 27th August. The trio of showings completes on Friday 28th August with an afternoon showing of Disney Pixar classic Toy Story before fan-favourite Mamma Mia! on Friday night.
The award-winning events team at Millennium Point trialled several new safety measures at the first screenings, which were met with high praise from happy customers. Measures include reduced capacity in the auditorium from 354 to 181, with all seats allocated beforehand, as well as hand sanitising stations throughout the venue.
Tickets for Toy Story are priced at £7.50 and include a drink and sweets for children. Thursday night’s screening of The Shawshank Redemption includes two drinks in the £15 ticket price; and Mamma Mia! includes a mini-bottle of bubbles and popcorn for £15 (all tickets are subject to a booking fee). Additional drinks and snacks are also available to purchase at the cashless bar at each screening.
Rebecca Delmore, commercial director at Millennium Point, said: “The team worked extremely hard to make guests feel as safe as possible at our first screenings and the feedback from attendees was hugely positive.
“We’ve got an all-time classic, one of the most popular children’s films ever and a feel-good sing-a-long, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We hope that film fans who have missed the unique experience that a cinema gives will come down to Millennium Point to enjoy a night at the movies.”
