Skill sharing day set to inspire creativity at The Public
On Saturday 29 June, Many & Varied (artist Nikki Pugh and friends), will be at The Public in West Bromwich for The Great Big Skills Share Jamboree – a day packed full of skills sharing and creative learning.
Taking place from 10.30am to 6.30pm, the informal day will welcome people of all ages and abilities to come along and try something new whilst sharing their own skills and know-how with others.
From finding out how to take better photographs, through to communicating in sign language, learning how to juggle or even whistling really loudly, a multitude of skills and techniques will be shared throughout the free event. The improvised schedule will have a strong emphasis on ‘doing’ and actively encourage all attendees to contribute.
Many & Varied will be based at The Public all summer, exploring maker culture and DIY technology, and holding a number of events which actively encourage creativity, developing new skills and making curious devices.
Over the next few months they’ll be celebrating ingenuity with activities including ‘GPS Orchestra’ on 13 and 14 July – a day of making noise with handmade devices that are triggered by GPS data – and ‘BANANAS!’, on 3 and 4 August, a fun-filled family-friendly event themed around our favourite yellow fruity goodness.
Their regular Maker Nights, held fortnightly on Tuesday evenings also provide an excellent opportunity for like-minded creative folk to come together, share inspiration and work on new projects.
Nikki Pugh from Many & Varied said: “People always bring such an amazing collection of knowledge, experience and imagination to these events – we can never predict what will come out of it and that’s what makes it really exciting!”
