Blues drawing at Plymouth Argyle leaves Andy Munro happy.
Was the 3-3 draw at Plymouth two points lost or a point gained? Probably the former when considering that Blues lost a two-goal lead but one can’t knock the commitment that the players are now, at last, starting to show under Wayne Rooney. If Krystian Beilik hadn’t been shown an extremely debatable red card then we would probably have bagged all three points and one does wonder whether the referees’ branch of the Blues Haters Club has been revived.
Apart from a second away game unbeaten there were also plenty of positives to take. The oft-defensively criticised Emmanuel Longelo stood in seamlessly for lee Buchanan, who went off injured early on – let’s hope not seriously. Also, when Beilik went off, his sidekick Ivan Sunjic was magnificent, hoovering up everything in sight. Alongside him both Juninho Bacuna and Jordan James played majestically and it was great to see Jay Stansfield end his goal scoring drought.
The talented Siriki Dembele added workrate to his undoubted skills and, despite a bad mistake, Dion Sanderson played a real captain’s role alongside Marc Roberts and Emanuel Aiwu in the second half when we were down to ten men. It was also good to see the return of Tyler Roberts, albeit on the bench and let’s hope that this heralds the return of more of our current posse of injured players.
Next up are two home games, with four points a minimum if we are to continue our modest progress.
