Sky Blues brought down to earth

Blues beat Coventry City as Andy Munro watches.

Blues halted their recent rot with a hard-fought win against local neighbours Coventry at a packed St Andrews.

First of all, my apologies to Chris Davies for scouring the media about other managers that might be available to replace him. Also my apologies for maligning the Duck, who turned into a footballing Swan on the day and also for thinking that Lewis Koumas was one of the worst Liverpool players I had ever seen. Never mind their goals, they also put in a stellar performance.

Blues impressively took an early lead when the Duck hammered home following great work from our new American full-back Kai Wagner, who added to his impressive array of career assists by orchestrating a move allowing Koumas to slip the ball home from an acute angle.

While on both occasions the Sky Blues pegged Blues back, it was the Duck who gave us the winning lead when he managed to squeeze the ball past the Coventry keeper from an acute angle. From then on it was all hands to the pump as the visitors pressed for an equaliser with still half an hour to go. Kyogo Furuhashi came on to put in a tremendous closing players down shift without, as usual, threatening to score but Blues relatively comfortably closed the show .

It’s worth also mentioning that Phil Neumann and Paul Robinson were immense, particularly the latter and he’s definitely proving to be one of the signings of the season so far despite his early aberrations. Also credit to Patrick Roberts, who was a handful for the opposition as ever, and Paik Seung-ho and Tommy Doyle, who usually are known for creativity rather than defensive duties but worked their proverbial socks off to help defend the lead and a precious three points.
