Andy Munro sees Blues draw at Swansea.
This was never going to be an easy game given that Swansea’s home record was on a par with Blues’ away form. The first half stats say it all with the home side having the majority of possession, almost three times as many shots and, amongst their shots on target, the opening goal. Blues, by the way, had a couple of chances woefully squandered by Messrs Kyogo and the Ducksch. Where have we heard that before?
It all looked a bit bleak at half-time, but helped by some sensible substitutions, Blues battled back for their star man on the day, Patrick Roberts to weave his way through Swansea’s defence to hit an equaliser that was probably deserved given their second-half comeback, Part of the reason for that was the introduction of Jay Stansfield, who as usual was perpetual motion upsetting the opposition defence.
Perhaps it is worth mentioning that in defence Phil Neumann, who hasn’t recently attracted rave reviews, had a decent game alongside the imperious Christoph Klarer, yet again winning every ball in the air. It was interesting to note Chris Davies’ after-match quote that Blues didn’t move the ball quick enough forward. Has he been reading this column?
Returning from Swansea with a point isn’t a season-changer but it could possibly ne the green shoots of recovery in our away form. Let’s hope so.
