Canaries snuffed out

Andy Munro sees Blues convincingly beat Norwich City.

This convincing win could have equally been headlined ‘Canaries disappear up the chimney’ given the ‘controversy’ surrounding the designs for the proposed new ground. As usual, Blues fans showed their self-depreciating sense of humour by chanting, “Four-one to the Chimney Boys.”

Either way, Blues started off at a tremendous pace and raced into an early lead through who else but Jay ‘What a Waste of Money’ Stansfield. Then Marvin Ducksch notched a well-taken brace, even though in between Norwich got one back. In honour of Blues two-goal German, a new chant was born; “Feed the Duck and he will score!” And by the way, if he achieves even half of what the Horse did for Blues then he will prove a bargain.

In fairness Norwich never gave up and James Beadle showed his quality in goal on a couple of occasions even though maybe he could have done better with the one Blues did concede. However the Canaries attacks usually faltered on the human rock that is Christoph Klarer and at the other end Stansfield got a second whilst Tomoki Iwata was one of many Blues players who came close to adding to that tally

With Paik Seung-ho missing through injury, Tommy Doyle yet again showcased his quality whilst Patrick Roberts was as elusive as ever. There was even time for the Little and Large partnership of Kyogo Furuhashi and Lyndon Dykes who proved lively without adding to the score.

As regards the opposition, whilst they are in a lowly position in the table, Norwich are no mugs and obviously benefited, albeit in a very limited way, from the new manager bounce. So all in all, this was a ruthless performance from the Blues with an excellent addition to our goals for column.
