Blues bag a point

Andy Munro watches Blues draw with Albion.

This was no classic, particularly from a Blues point of view. Like the Blues, Albion aren’t a team of giants but they are underrated in terms of having some pacy players and we struggled in the first half. Not only did Blues concede to an admittedly lucky goal but we also struggled to contain the opposition.

Neumann looked shaky at times and Iwata was frequently caught out of position. Luckily Christoph Klarer was his usual magnificent self, supported by a diligent Alex Cochrane.

Blues did have plenty of meaningless possession in their own half before the break but time and time again gave the ball away when they ventured over the halfway line.

This unfortunate pattern continued into the first quarter of the second half, when the team finally woke up. Tommy Doyle was at the heart of the best moves and capped by a superb ball to feed the Ducksch and we all know the ending

Subs were made, including taking off a slightly subdued Jay Stansfield and bringing on a blonde-haired Kyogo Furuhashi, who zipped around to nearly net his first for the club. If only he had notched as many goals as hairstyles.
