Luna drive-in returns for Christmas

Experience the magic of cinema at the NEC.

There’s nothing quite like a Christmas movie to put you in the festive mood, and film fans will delight in the news that this winter, The Luna Drive-In Cinema is bringing a whole month of magical Christmas movies back to the big screen from the 1st –22nd December.

Following a phenomenally successful Winter season at the NEC in Birmingham last year, the Luna Drive In Cinema is returning to the heart of the country for another festive cinema residency, complete with all your festive favourites on the big screen, to be enjoyed from the comfort of your own car. A truly iconic venue in the 2022 winter season (which consists of more than 100 screenings across four locations) the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham makes for the perfect spot to get into the spirit of Christmas.

With sleigh-fulls of fairy lights, festive food and drink, and a state of the art giant high-definition cinema screen, The Luna Winter Drive-In Cinema, makes for a truly unique cinematic experience.

The programme features a line-up of every classic Christmas movie you can think of – perfect for that festive date night – including, Love Actually, The Holiday, and It’s A Wonderful Life, as well as family favourites such as Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Arthur Christmas, Elf and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Bringing the classic Drive-In Cinema format into the 21st Century, the Luna experience utilises unique wireless in-car speaker boxes so everyone gets an incredible audio experience. With this technology, there is no need to have the car radio running and risk draining the battery, so you can truly tune into the Yuletide magic without any distractions.

Fancy a cup of hot cocoa, or a delicious mug of mulled wine? The Luna Drive-In Cinema has everything you can wish for to ditch the ‘bah humbugs’ and get into the Christmas spirit. Audiences are also welcome to pack their snacks and drinks for their movie night (though the bringing of alcohol to the events is restricted). This is one cinematic experience you won’t want to miss.

So, dig out your favourite Christmas jumpers and get ready to soak up the festive atmosphere.

George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, says: “There’s quite simply nothing like watching your favourite festive film to bring on that Christmas feeling. Everyone has their favourite title – each year I always say I don’t feel like it’s Christmas until I’ve watched Home Alone! We couldn’t be more excited to announce this year’s Luna winter season, with both drive-in and indoor screenings taking place at some of our favourite venues across the country. The programmes playing at the NEC in Birmingham represent the ultimate lineup of Christmas classics, accompanied by stunning winter-themed backdrops and all the festive food and drink you can imagine – we have no doubt this year is set to be the best winter season yet!”

Charlotte Ford, Head of Brand Marketing & Engagement at heycar, said: “Nothing signals the arrival of the festive season like the sound of those all too familiar Christmas songs on our radios, colourful Christmas lights illuminating dim streets, and our favourite of all, enjoying the festival classics on the big screen with our loved ones, whether that be in a warm cosy indoor cinema or in the comfort of our own car. We at heycar are very excited to be continuing our partnership with The Luna Cinema, we look forward to joining them, and the other Christmas film fanatics, at the big screen for our yearly fix of festive entertainment!”
