Birmingham’s First Folio finishes 2022 tour

The Hive to host final public viewing of Shakespeare treasure.

Birmingham’s First Folio finishes the 2022 tour at The Hive in the Jewellery Quarter on Wednesday 26th October, from 1pm – 6pm. Prior to this, as part of the Everything to Everybody Project, the First Folio has visited six venues during 2022 and has been viewed by almost 1,500 people whilst on tour.

The final, free, stop on the tour for 2022 takes place at The Hive in the Jewellery Quarter and visitors on the day will be able to view the First Folio in the gallery from 1-6 pm; contribute their favourite bits of Shakespeare and response to the Folio to the Everything to Everybody Project’s People’s Folio; view a display of prints created by participants from Restore at The Hive in response to the Shakespeare Memorial Library; and book in for a free historic building tours of the New Standard Works where the Hive is housed.

Birmingham’s copy of the First Folio is unique because it is the only one bought as part of a dedicated programme for improving people’s lives through culture and education. It was purchased in 1881 for all the people of Birmingham – no matter what their background, wealth or occupation. The Everything to Everybody First Folio Tour is about giving this wonderful resource back to the people.
