Serco grant boosts Witton Lodge service provision

Funding will aid community work during pandemic.

Witton Lodge Community Association has received a grant of £1,000 from the Serco Foundation to support its work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The award comes as recognition of the services being delivered by Witton Lodge’ to help people across the Erdington community who have employment, health and wellbeing and housing needs.

The Foundation recently launched its Coronavirus Community Support Fund and asked Serco employees to nominate groups and charities they felt were worthy of a grant. The Association was nominated and selected.

Iram Fardus, Business Development and Performance Manager for Witton Lodge, said: “This grant is a tribute to the work and commitment of our staff, volunteers and partners who are supporting those at risk and those who are suffering from the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak.

“The money will allow us to extend provision in those areas where the need is greatest, increasing the capacity and reach of our wellbeing service to deliver additional support in areas like mental health and isolation.

“It will also help us to recruit and train new volunteer befrienders who will then be able to provide bespoke, one-to-one support for people, through regular telephone calls and wellbeing checks.”
