Blues’ end of the pier show

Andy Munro talks about Blues and a win at Wigan.

When Jacques Maghoma scores with a header and three ex-Blues players fail to score for the opposition you just know it was a good day at the footballing office.

At the start, the good news was that Morrison had made what must be the quickest recovery ever from the curse of the hamstring. Unfortunately, Jota was still kept back on the bench and Blues’ paper-thin squad was tested even more when Pedersen was ruled out. In fairness, Wes Harding showed his mettle to ensure normal service was maintained.

However, Wigan are nobody’s fools and, at least at home, had some of that promotion bounce left with a lively opening fifteen minutes. Then the usual Juke and Che Adams partnership did their bit to put Blues one up to be followed by Captain Morrison (or should that be Captain Marvel?) scoring inevitably following a set piece. Undoubtedly a player who is back to his best under the Monk management.

The Maghoma header was the icing on the cake even if that cake was topped off by a pineapple in his case. However, perhaps the most pleasing of all was the clean sheet and the three points which was a fitting Xmas present to the 4,000 plus Bluenoses roaring their team on.
