Local MP launches West Midlands Parlimentary group

All-Party group aims to “speak up” for region in Westminster.

Dudley MP Ian Austin is establishing a new group to speak up for the West Midlands in Parliament.

The new All-Party Parliamentary Group for the West Midlands will be an officially recognised platform for the region’s MPs, businesses, councils and other organisations to put forward their views in Parliament.

Austin is chairing the new group along with the Conservative MP for Stafford Jeremy Lefroy with MPs from across the region and from all parties signing up as members. The group will focus on issues including devolution, investment in infrastructure, industry and skills, holding discussions and providing reports to challenge the Government.

Ian Austin MP said: “I grew up here, so I want the West Midlands to be a strong region again, with strong industries, a strong community and strong public services.

“We need to be proud of our past and take inspiration from it as we forge a new industrial revolution and bring high-tech manufacturing jobs into the region. That’s why I am establishing this new group to speak up for the West Midlands in Parliament and fight for local people.”
