Our Albion correspondent Terry Wills has not had a good week.
Nothing new! Albion lose 1-0, more flack levelled at Tony Pulis, fans jeering the team as the final whistle…
Despite an abysmal first half that could have seen them trailing by a greater margin , media reports and televised highlights indicated that the Baggies dominated the second, created chances but as expected failed to take them.
And again Saido Berahino was blamed, missing two golden opportunities that at his best he’d have snapped up. Along with most supporters I’ve urged Saido too give 100% while he’s still at the Hawthorns but even if he hasn’t I can’t believe he’s deliberately missing chances, Strikers live on scoring goals, it’s a natural instinct and I daresay he’s equally disappointed as his team mates and the despairing supporters.
There were encouraging signs but signs don’t score goals and until this is rectified we’ll continue to struggle, hoping that teams around us continue to lose games.
The latest news from the Albion Assembly meeting clarified many of the never-ending rumbles from fans regarding the lack of activity in the transfer market – who we tried to sign, dismissing much of the speculation that was wide of the mark and so on.
West Ham are this week’s visitors. A side that can score goals but are reputedly not too clever in defence makes for a fascinating prospect but unless Tony Pulis decides to sign and play his trialists (which is unlikely) I can’t envisage Saloman Rondon; Matt Phillips or anyone else scoring. Then I’m sorry to say the run of games without a win will increase. But as ever I’m hoping to be proved wrong.
