Blues crawl against Crawley

Andy Munro watches Blues’ goalless draw with Crawley Town.

This was the second consecutive episide of After the Lord Mayor’s Show episode following our crowning as League 1 champions.

The Blues’ keeper and back four were generally fine with the former just erring once when he lost possession and let in a Crawley forward who luckily blazed over the bar with the goal at his mercy. In fact the pick of the defence was Christoph Klarer, as dominant as ever.

However, in front of them whilst Iwata did what he could to get Blues going, his midfield partner Paik Seung-ho probably had his most ineffective game at home this season.

Further up, Anderson flickered in and out whilst Willum Willumsson continued to be the Mark 2 version of himself and one wonders why the manager still persists in playing him. Up front, Jay Stansfield was probably unlucky not to get on the score sheet whilst his partner Alfie May ran around in ever decreasing circles.

The Juke amongst others came on and he was unlucky not to net whilst also linking up play well. This perhaps emphasises the need for a proper but speedy centre forward next season so that the elusive Stansfield can play in just behind. Anderson is undoubtedly the best wide player that we have but there still must be a question whether he will be cutting edge in the Championship so a speedy and tricky wide player also has to be on the agenda.

Finally much as we like Chrissy Davies as manager there is a distinct absence of a Plan B, which will need to be rectified if we are to be successful next season
