This week at the Robin

There’s certainly a mixed bag of acts appearing.

Tuesday sees the return of Neil Innes and John Halsey, leading the latest incarnation of Pre-Fab Four legends the Rutles. Forty years after they first came to prominence the band continue to tour the world, playing sell-out shows to fans eager to catch the songs that helped create musical history. Or something.

Another Robin regular takes to the stage on Wednesday. Singer/pianist/guitarist Mike Sanchez is one of the most respected performers in British rock’n’roll and r&b. Whether as a sideman with such notables as Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings or fronting his own band, Mike’s unique and charismatic talent shines through and guarantees a good night.

Tickets £15

Half Man Half Biscuit are back in town on Thursday. Hard=-working has never been an accusation levelled at a band who rarely perform more than ten gigs a year and release roughly three albums a decade. Accusations that can be levelled at them, though, include the sharpest lyricists and the finest observationists of modern British life currently playing.

Tickets £20

Then on Friday it’s the turn of eighties sensations Go West to hit Bilston. Still featuring original members Peter Cox and Richard Drummie together with a full touring band, the duo will be performing the hits that made them one of the decade’s biggest-selling acts.

Tickets £23
