The Robin will be hosting some of the finest names to emerge from the punk and new wave scene next week.
First up on Wednesday 2nd December will be the Jack Tars. If the name means nothing to you, the individual members certainly will. Mike Peters (the Alarm), Captain Sensible (The Damned), Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats) and Chris Cheney of the Living End have got together to fuse their collection of punk, rockabilly and alternative into anight of unforgettable rock’n’roll.
Playing songs that have helped define a generation, and written by the hands that steer The Jack Tars, this furious four aim their ship towards new musical horizons and the promise of further rock and roll adventures.
In November 1980 The Jam released their fifth studio album Sound Affects, featuring their second single to reach the number one spot Start! and the acoustic masterpiece That’s Entertainment. This album often competes for the title of their best record due to its mix of sixties psychedelic rock and funk alongside a political commentary that was innovative for its time.
To celebrate the 35th anniversay of the album’s release, bassist Bruce Foxton will lead From the Jam through the entire tracklist plus a host of other Jam classics on Friday 4th December.
