Birmingham school leavers offered hospitality opportunity

Charity provides training places.

Taking place from June–August 2015, Springboard’s KickStart is a three-week programme assisting 16-24 year olds in finding employment and apprenticeship opportunities within the hospitality sector.

Springboard, a charity that has supported young, the unemployed and those facing barriers to work into sustainable employment within hospitality for the last 25 years, understands that a lot of young people leaving education find themselves applying for opportunities and receiving the same feedback, “lacks experience”, “does not have employability skills”.

KickStart combats these hurdles by providing participants a transition programme preparing them for the world of work, providing accredited qualifications relevant to the hospitality industry as well as a two week structured work placement in some of the UK’s leading hospitality businesses. Marriot Hotels, Park Plaza Hotels, Jury’s Inn, Sodexo, the Dorchester and the Savoy to name just a few.

This programme has had 94% successful job outcomes for KickStart participants. It aims to tackle the hurdles young people face when applying for jobs and help them to make informed career decisions about joining a fast paced and growing sector with good career progression routes leading to great rewards.

Ajay Sampla, a KickStart graduate in 2014 said, “I would 100% recommend KickStart to everyone. It gave me the extra little push I needed and without it I would most likely still be unemployed. The training was very beneficial and the assistance and help the employees gave was brilliant.”
