Visual arts at the Drum

Alex Robinson-Sutherland – The Story So Far.

Aston-based arts centre The Drum will  be hosting a selection of visual arts exhibitions throughout Spring 2014, commencing with the works of rising local star Alex Robinson-Sutherland’s new collection The Story So Far, launching Thursday 6th February at 6pm.

Using either oil or acrylic paints, Alex Robinson-Sutherland creates uplifting and inspiring abstract works, thought-provoking pieces that automatically engage the viewer and encourage active involvement in art. Her art is a true reflection of her personal experiences and feelings expressed through natural forms. At only 25 years old, Alex has already been causing ripples in the art world within the last two years, with a talent and motivation that set her apart.

From humble beginnings making collages from pasta and potato prints to her own business and instillations at businesses across the city, Alex has been recognised as one of Birmingham’s most promising up and coming talents, and most recently received the Youth For Excellence Entrepreneurial Award.

When not working on her own creative projects, Alex spends her time working to develop opportunities for others. Project U-Neek helps emerging visual artists get their work displayed around the city, liaising with local restaurants, cafes and venues to provide an ever-changing variety of fresh experimental new works to decorate their walls.
