Gordon Harley gives us some words on the subject of resolutions.
Christmas is a time of year for both celebration and reflection. Reflection often leads to resolution and a desire to improve on things or make things better. Smoking and weight loss always seem to figure highly.
The problem with most resolutions is that they fail. The reason for failure is that they are often too big, they suffer from an all or nothing approach. If I want to lose weight, rather than say that I will lose a stone it might be better to set a small goal such as one less dessert a week or a night off alcohol. The smaller the step the greater the chance of success. It is always easier to build on success, too.
So when it comes to a new year’s resolution set yourself up for success and start with a small step. Only superheroes take mighty leaps!
Happy New Year!
