Brian Clemens’ menacing stage thriller Edge of Darkness focuses on loss and revelation of identity in a chilling mystery set at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Max and Laura Cranwell are overjoyed to have found their daughter Emma who has been missing for three years.  However, it soon becomes clear that Emma does not recognise her parents and is struggling to recall her past.  A horror of things which are seemingly harmless, and a familiarity with some Russian phrases, suggest that Emma may not be who she seems to be.  Dark secrets begin to emerge about other members of the Cranwell household: is anyone quite what they appear?

Brian Clemens, the author of Edge of Darkness, is perhaps best known as the creator of television’s The Professionals and a writer and script editor for The Avengers, among many other notable successes on TV and film.  In a writing career which began in the 1950s he has also been the author of many stage plays, three of which – Shock!, Strictly Murder and The Devil at Midnight – have been produced previously with great success by Lichfield Players.

The current play marks Dawn Nicholson’s début as director of a full-length Players production, and the cast features a mixture of newcomers and “old hands”.

Edge of Darkness takes to the stage in the Lichfield Garrick Studio from Tuesday 19 March to Saturday 23 March: performances begin at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Lichfield Garrick Box Office.
