With less than one month to go until Christmas Day, Brindleyplace is helping to spread some Christmas cheer with its free family event ‘Brindleyplace Presents Christmas’, which will be held at the estate next week.
The free event, which is open to both tenants and the general public, will take place on Tuesday 4th December in Central Square by the Brindleyplace fountains between 5.30pm and 7pm and will revolve around the annual Brindleyplace Christmas light switch on.
Accompanying the Christmas light switch on will be a special carol sing-along led by Georgina Moseley, the mother of Harry Moseley who tragically died last year from a brain tumour at the age of 11. Harry spent his last months raising money for cancer research and his huge efforts have resulted in more than £1 million being raised and a charity set up in his name. Brindleyplace Presents Christmas will raise money for the Help Harry Help Others Charity.
Music for the charity sing-along will be provided by Highly Colliery Brass Band and traditional carols will be sung by pupils from St John’s Primary School and Blakenhale Junior School. Free Radio will also be supporting the event with host, Russ Morris.
Kate Fittall, destination marketing manager, GVA, said: “The Christmas tree at Brindleyplace takes up to four days to decorate and is covered in 2880 fairy lights so the highly anticipated switch-on is certainly something to celebrate! Once the lights are on, the festivities can truly get underway at Brindleyplace, whether it’s Christmas parties on the estate or joining in our charity sing-along – there’s plenty for everyone to get involved with!
“Brindleyplace Presents Christmas is a great chance for people to celebrate community spirit in Birmingham and enjoy some good old fashioned carols, whilst remembering the incredible achievements of Harry Moseley. There will also be plenty of festive food on offer including mince pies, hot chestnuts and mulled wine – not to mention a special visit from Santa himself!
“To make the event extra special, visitors will be invited to remember loved ones who aren’t here this Christmas by lighting a floating candle in the Brindleyplace fountains, creating a wonderful visual display to accompany all the singing.”
Free live music will also be playing throughout December at the Bandstand in Brindleyplace.
