Andy Munro sees Blues lose at Bournemouth.
It was never going to be easy for Blues at Bournemouth and with only four defenders available (if you can call Kristian Pedersen that), the result was almost a forgone conclusion. This was something Lee Bowyer must have recognised by leaving the mercurial Onel Hernandez on the bench and resting a slightly hamstrung Marc Roberts, with a more winnable Saturday game at home to Luton in prospect.
The Blues back line is becoming a major problem, with Pedersen having enough mares to open a stud farm, and it doesn’t help when their midfield ‘protector’ Ivan Sunjic gives the ball away. On the plus side, we looked decent going forward and should have had more than our consolation goal, and after that Hernandez must surely start on Saturday.
Junior Bacuna also continues to impress while Gary Gardner rose to the challenge of the captain’s armband to have one of his best games for some considerable time. Out wide, Jordan Graham is now showing his sometimes hidden talents which is another string to our bow.
Luckily for us three of the bottom four lost but we definitely need some points on the board against Luton. As part of that quest, my view is that Bowyer ought to give one of our younger players a first team chance to get some energy in that department but will he?
