Indico Street Kitchen announces Mailbox opening date.
Prestigious Indian street food restaurant, Indico Street Kitchen has announced it will open the doors to its newest city centre venue on Monday 25th November.
Already a firm favourite with diners in Shirley, Indico will pay tribute to the bustling streets of North India, adding an authentic and exciting experience to the ever-popular offering of Canalside bars and restaurants, only found at Mailbox in the heart of Birmingham.
Visitors will be given a true taste of Punjabi culture and cuisine as they step into the vibrant venue, which has been designed to stimulate all five senses. Bollywood art, street photography and hand-drawn paintings and murals by local artists bring life to the interiors, while jazz-inspired mixes of Indian classics and the flavours and aromas of authentic North Indian ingredients will transport guests to the streets of India. Each detail has been carefully considered, down to the very feel of newspaper-thin menus, to tell Indico’s story.
Customer favourites and Punjabi delicacies will feature on the menu, from chaats to share with friends, to comforting rich curries and tandoor classics, all presented in an authentically creative way. The new venue, which sits by the Canalside entrance on Level 3, will also have an extensive selection of beers, wines and spirits, alongside a specially designed cocktail menu with an Indico twist.
Owner of Indico Street Kitchen, Faheem Badur, said: “A lot of time and thought has gone into our new Indico restaurant at the Mailbox. We wanted to be sure that we remained true to our vibrant street food roots, whilst also creating a new experience for diners looking for something special at Mailbox.
“We have therefore created another Indico where customers can take time to enjoy their meals and soak up the colourful, cultural atmosphere that we have nurtured in our Shirley restaurant. While Mailbox already has a fantastic collection of retailers, entertainment venues, bars and restaurants, we felt there was a real opportunity for a desirable and authentic Indian eatery to add to the mix.”
David Pardoe, head of marketing, retail and tenant engagement at Mailbox, said: “Our customers have expressed a demand for a unique Indian experience, so we are extremely pleased to add Indico to our offering of much-loved food and drink outlets.
“We are very much looking forward to welcoming diners to the new Indico on Monday 25th November.”
