Welcome return for popular touring band.
Birmingham Jazz will be presenting the band Partikel at their regular 1,000 Trades venue on Friday.
Partikel’s new CD Counteraction documents their explorations into the more electronic side of music whilst maintaining their exciting and high-energy approach. And there’s a new sound in the mix with the addition of the great guitarist Ant Law. They were nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award for Ensemble of the Year alongside Phronesis and Binker and Moses.
After years of extensive touring throughout the UK, Europe and China, Partikel have established themselves as “one of the best and most consistent of contemporary British jazz groups”. This is a welcome return to Birmingham Jazz following their first appearance four years ago.
The band launched their fourth album Counteraction this year after adding guitarist Ant Law to their line-up. They spent 2016 touring extensively and developing the music that eventually made it onto the album. There has been lots of playing touring the new music around the UK and Europe including a great gig at the JazzAhead Festival in Bremen, Germany.
