Lord Mayor honours high achievers.
Abbey College Birmingham students were recognised for their incredible academic success at a prestigious award ceremony held at the Priory Rooms in Birmingham.
Teachers nominated the top students who showed outstanding achievements in their studies and as the students took to centre stage to receive their awards they were also presented with a certificate and some students with a trophy.
Special guest, The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Shafique Shah, was in attendance and presented the talented students with their awards.
Upper sixth student Hassan Latif, (18), from Handsworth Wood, Birmingham received an award and a trophy for outstanding Upper Sixth student of the year and an academic award in Mathematics. GCSE student Callum Takhar, (14), from Monmouth Road, Warley Woods, received three awards for outstanding GCSE student of the year, effort award in GCSE Business Studies and an effort award in GCSE English.
Hassan said: “I was so surprised and honoured to win these awards. It was a fantastic event and it was a pleasure to share it with my classmates.
“It is a memory and an achievement that I will take with me on to my next endeavour.”
Callum said: “I am thrilled to receive three awards, particularly the outstanding GCSE student award as I work really hard and take my studies seriously. I can’t believe my hard work has been recognised and I am privileged to be at Abbey College Birmingham.”
