University is best for student experience.
Coventry University has been named University of the Year for Student Experience in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015, and has retained its title of Modern University of the Year for the second consecutive year.
The guide, which will be published in full this Sunday, sees Coventry University ranked 42nd in the UK – up three spots from last year – and top amongst the country’s modern universities (those granted university status since 1992).
Coventry’s student experience award is based on the league table’s student satisfaction measure, which sees the university score more highly than any other institution in the country. Last month’s National Student Survey – in which final year students rated how satisfied they are with their experience – also saw Coventry top the national rankings, being voted to joint top spot for teaching quality† alongside Oxford and Cambridge.
In recent editions the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide has highlighted Coventry University’s innovative approach to higher education for its rise up the rankings, citing the London Campus and Coventry University College as industry-leading initiatives – as well as complimenting its “eye-catching” courses.
Vice-Chancellor John Latham said: “For the university to be recognised in this way on the same weekend that we’re welcoming thousands of new students into our vibrant city is fantastic and a wonderful reflection of the hard work put in by all our staff all the year round.
“It’s the second consecutive year Coventry has achieved the best modern university accolade, and we’re particularly thrilled to be recognised as the UK’s best for student experience so soon after our students themselves voted us top in the country for teaching quality. We look forward to continuing to offer our students a great all-round experience and unrivalled international opportunities as we embark on the new academic year.”
Today’s improvements in the Times and Sunday Times ranking follow the university’s recent success in the Guardian university league table, in which Coventry rose six places to break into the UK’s top 30 for the first time.
