An artist who for years painted in Birmingham is holding his first exhibition for 12 years.

Richard Sharland, who until recently was based in Kings Heath, is showing his work from next weekend until the 6th May in Manchester. It comprises watercolours, acrylics and collages, painted over the period 2003 – 2013, and includes a recent watercolour series from the West Coast of North America.

Sharland, who is an environmentalist, is currently based in the south-west. The exhibition is being held in support of The Carbon Literacy Trust, and Manchester: A Certain Future. The works will be on sale, with 25% of the funds raised to be donated to the Carbon Literacy Trust, and enhanced by the artist using Gift Aid. The donations will be used to fund a series of small bursaries, each up to £100, for young people aged 11-17 years.
