City station to be upgraded.
Passengers who travel from Lichfield Trent Valley station are set to benefit from a whole host of planned improvement works in the New Year.
Funding totalling £900,000 was secured by London Midland as part of the National Stations Improvement Programme, to vastly improve parking, ticket office, waiting room and information facilities for customers.
Work has already started on the development of the new station and car park, which on completion will provide an additional 120 car parking spaces. The car park will open to passengers in January 2014, and as an interim measure will include a stepped access to platform two. The car park will be fully step-free when the development works finish in four months’ time.
Mark Goodall, London Midland’s head of Cross City services said, “It’s great news for passengers that we have secured the funding to enable these improvement works to go ahead.
“Modernising passenger facilities at Lichfield Trent Valley station has been a long-standing priority for London Midland and will be of significant benefit to customers travelling on the Cross City route and services to London and the North West”.
