Following the success of the show last year, Hoopla Productions are bringing their hit family music show The Night Queen back to B2 from Fri 18 to Sat 26 Jan.
Inspired by Mozart’s The Magic Flute, this family show combines puppetry, music and other theatrical elements to weave an enchanting story of adventure that is by turns funny and scary, silly and serious, thrilling and challenging.
The Night Queen tells the story of Pamina, a young girl looking for excitement. One day she slips out of the house, following her only friend Popinjay, a curious and colourful little bird, only to find an angry dragon hidden in the forest.
Pamina can escape from its clutches only with the help of a beautiful, mysterious character – The Night Queen herself.
Director Jenny Stephens said: “We’re delighted to be returning to the Belgrade’s wonderful and atmospheric B2 space with The Night Queen. The combination of fantastic music and singing, of characterful puppets and an exciting story of adventure will, I’m sure, make this a great theatrical treat to be savoured by young and old.”
The Night Queen has been written by Philip Monks whose previous plays for children include the critically acclaimed Pandora’s Box for the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) where he was Playwright in Residence from 2004 to 2005.
The role of Pamina will be played by Madeleine Leslay and the role of the Night Queen will be played by Jennifer Greenwood. After appearing in the show last year, Dan Willis will reprise the role of Pamina’s father and Zorastro.
Tickets for The Night Queen are available now from the box office on 024 7655 3055 priced from just £5.75 for children, £7.75 for adults and £20 for a family ticket. Cheaper tickets are available via www.belgrade.co.uk.
