Flight Club Birmingham – Family Session

An afternoon at the oche featuring Helen Annetts, Charlie Statham and Joe Statham.

Even when your children are older teens, one of them actually a brand-new adult, it turns out you are still required to be on hand during the six-week holidays. And what is required is to be willing to provide constant food and a free taxi to activities to which you are not invited….

ENTER Flight Club’s Family Session, the perfect end of summer activity that they are happy to participate in with you – to be clear, you are still providing the lift there and the food – but it is also the perfect activity for competitive teens and parents.

Family Sessions are for anyone aged 12+ and run from Sunday to Friday until 4.30pm. We headed to Flight Club Birmingham for a 1hr 30 slot which was perfect amount of time for us to try out all of the games on offer and for us to discover that somehow, I am the BEST at a game named ‘Killer’ – I was delighted.

Every family or group has their own area to play in, and the games are really easy to understand, there is a video that explains everything really simply and clear instructions on the screen to guide you through. The Family Session featured 7 games – Demolition, Donkey Derby, Killer, Snakes & Ladders, Limbo, Quackshot and Shanghai. Best of all, its all added up for you which saved us a lot of time and arguments.

The bar menu is perfect for teens – and adults – ranging from pizzas to small plates to sharing plates. We opted for Smashed Beef Sliders, BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders and Bang Bang Cauliflower Sticks – each portion includes 2 – perfect for sharing or for one. We shared skin-on fries and warm bread and dips and of course they couldn’t leave without a sweet treat, the warm doughnuts hit the mark.

Whilst we were lucky to be guests of Flight Club Birmingham, as a parent in the final phase of the holidays I think the prices are pretty competitive – you can book your own oche for £9pp which seems reasonable and the food was definitely value for money for a pub setting – and genuinely the social nature of the activity results in lots of laughs, chat and friendly competitiveness so feels worth it all round.

Brilliantly, the Action Replay camera captured each of our moments of glory! And as standard these are emailed to you post visit, so we can look forward to reliving the moment when, as Killer, I killed them not once but twice!!!
