Cambridge taught a lesson

Blues beat Cambridge United in the FA Cup with Andy Munro watching.

Blues were generally in control of this cup-tie, apart from an even first opening period and a frantic last ten minutes..not helped by substitutions which included the increasingly mistake-ridden Phil Neumann.

Looking on the plus side, Blues notched up another rare away victory and being in the hat for the fourth round of the FA Cup can only help their confidence. It should also be born in mind that the holders of the trophy were dumped out by a non-league outfit so nothing should be taken for granted.

At the back, it was good to see Christoph Klarer back. He was generally his normal dominant self and Jack Robinson was again a reliable partner. However, yet again it was the American Kai Wagner who oozed class both in defence and going forward and capped his performance with a goal, albeit with a slight deflection. Tomoki Iwata was, of course, his normal reliable self.

Further forward Paik Seung-ho had a quietly effective game and Tommy Doyle was behind most good things. Up top, the Duck netted despite having a generally quiet game whilst Kyoto Furuhashi as usual never stopped running, fully deserving his goal and probably could have scored a brace with a bit of luck. Either way scoring might hopefully be the start of good things to come.

Also a word for Lewis Koumas, who had another decent outing and if Blues keep him on he looks like he could become a real asset. Either way, it was a decent, but nothing more, day at the office.
