Blues’ defeat at Sheffield United leaves Andy Munro wondering what the future holds.
Chris Davies must be looking over his shoulder after another humbling defeat away from home. In truth, this was exactly what Blues deserved as they were continually on the back foot.
Ryan Allsop can’t be blamed for the goals and nor can Robinson, who played a solid game defensively although offered little going forward.
Alongside him Christoph Klarer was below par unless you compared him to Phil Neumann, who alongside Marvin Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi up front are quite frankly looking poor buys and at the price we paid for them, outrageously bad value for money.
Iwata was also anonymous and when he has a bad game then that is usually a barometer for the team’s performance.
Having Tommy Doyle sent off didn’t help even though we were already a goal down. This left an out of sorts (again) Paik Seung-ho isolated and the situation was not helped by an off the pace Keshi Anderson, although to be fair to the latter, he is normally good value when selected or brought on.
Jay Stansfield cut an increasingly frustrated figure up top although, as always, he never stopped giving 1OO per cent. In fact, the only player who could probably hold his head up high was Demarai Gray, who always looked the player most likely to trouble the opposition.
We are now as near to the relegation spots as the play-offs and unless we get three points and a convincing win in our next fixture then I can see the American owners losing patience, as many supporters are also starting to do.
In fact the only thing that I can say in Blues’ defence is that perhaps a gap in class shows when the opposition can afford to have Danny Ings and Tom Cannon on the bench.
