Transfer Frenzy

Andy Munro looks at how Blues fared in the transfer window.

Blues have made the most of being a promoted club from a lower division almost free of spending constraints so let’s have a look at the outgoings and incoming replacements during the summer with marks out of ten based on it being a good disposal or acquisition.

On the outgoing side.

Tyler Roberts (9): Always flattered to deceive and no doubt on an inflated wage.
George Hall(6): I always hate to see young, talented players leaving but George spent more time injured than fit.
Alfie Chang (6): Ditto.
Taylor Gardner-Hickman(6): Decent versatile player but never really set the pitch alight (?).
Bailey Peacock-Farrell (9): No real loss and the proverbial ‘dodgy keeper’!
Emile Hansson(8): Definitely Mr. Average, at best, at Championship level.

On the incoming side:

Osayi Samuel(8): Definitely a decent signing, whether it be as full-back or winger.
Eiran Cashin (6): Not the speediest and has the turning circle of an articulated lorry, but on the plus side aggressive and committed.
Demarai Gray(9): Talented and with a brilliant work ethic.
Phil Neumann(7): Competent but doesn’t compare with Christoph Klarer.
Mavin Ducksch(7): Makes Lyndon Dykes look sprightly but, in fairness, it’s early days and he is recovering from injury.
Kyogo Furuhashi(8): Diminutive, but lightning quick and hopefully the goals will start to flow.
Lewis Koumas(8): Looks sprightly and skilful.
Kanya Fujimoto (6): Too early to judge until he has made a few appearances.
Jack Robinson (6): Good pedigree but see marking/comments for Fujimoto.
Patrick Roberts (8): Looks a pedigree signing. Skilful and quick.

So fingers crossed as the season unfolds…
