Blues win at home to Swansea City. Andy Munro watches.
After three games without a win and without a goal, Blues came good against a more than decent Swansea side, whose possession game mirrored the Blues. It was therefore no surprise that possession stats reflected a 50:50 split.
Yet Blues had more corners, more shots and more shots on goal, seemingly without reward. That is, until the entrance of one Mr. Lyndon Dykes.
Now Lyndon has certainly more tattoos than he has scored goals for the Blues and to be honest I have been one of his many critics. However when a pinpoint cross was sent over by impressive sub Patrick Roberts, in the dying minutes, then our tattooed striker was on hand to score with a quality header.
I’m happy to eat humble pie on this one as three points was vital after our recent (albeit short) losing streak. Most of the team played competently without setting the proverbial house on fire. In terms of the substitutes, Kyogo Furuhashi can’t seem to hit a barn door but hopefully his time will come as he gets himself in plenty of good positions.
Standout performers were Christoph Klarer (again), an impressive performance by newbie Jack Robinson, an excellent cameo performances from Ethan Laird and the aforesaid Patrick Roberts. Plus, of course, Mr. Dykes.
Overall, three vital points to get BCFC back on the road.
