Andy Munro watches Blues make history at Stevenage Borough.
This was not the most fluid Blues performance of the season and until the substitutions were made the team had looked a bit un-coordinated. Keshi Anderson, who has generally had a good season, was generally ineffective in terms of a decent final ball and Alfie May ran around without being able to apply a finishing touch.
One bright spot was a very competent performance from the new Japanese fullback Lee Myung-Jae, although if there was a criticism to be made, too often he laid the ball forward but failed to continue on to support the attack Grant Hanley was solid as was Ben Davies while Taylor Gardner-Hickman supported the attack with some aplomb.
However, once Blues brought on their substitutes, they really started to threaten. Jay Stansfield was a constant menace to the home defence and Alex Cochrane topped a fine cameo with a superb drive from outside the box after replacing Lee. Tomoki Iwata also brought new energy into midfield but it was Ryan Allsop who took the final plaudits with a superb save to preserve the three precious points that took Blues past the hundred mark and kept us on track for a possible record-breaking season.
