Andy Munro watches Blues get a draw at Stockport County.
The start of 2025 and another below-par performance from Blues. In truth they were very lucky to get away with a share of the points. Less shots, less corners and worryingly less possession, something which has rarely happened to the League One Blues.
Very few of the team came out with any credit, with the exception perhaps of Christoph Klarer doing himself some justice, as did Ben Davies in the middle of defence. Unfortunately, in front of them both Paik Seung-ho and Tomok Iwata were looking jaded and little was forthcoming out wide, where both Alex Cochrane and Taylor Gardner-Hickman lacked quality with their final pass.
Jay Stansfield worked his socks off up front as usual but to little effect, leaving it to Alfie May to score a superb goal and a trifle unlucky not to net a second. Scott Wright was amongst the subs given a run out but unsurprisingly looked rusty but presuming he gets up to speed quickly, following his return from injury, he could be vital in giving Blues some genuine width.
Like the Blackpool match and result, remaining unbeaten despite another below-par performance is a plus but the Players will need to up their game if they are to regain the top spot.
