Andy Munro watches Blues lose at Shrewsbury Town.
This was a match that the home side genuinely deserved to win. Solid in defence and dangerous on the counter, this was a new manager bounce of Olympian proportions.
There can be no excuses, with Blues fielding a strong side and it would be difficult to pick out any decent performers apart maybe from Jay Stansfield and Willum Willumsson. Ryan Allsop couldn’t do much about the goals, particularly given the paucity of defending. In front of him Alex Cochrane was slightly better than his counterpart Ethan Laird, who was ill-disciplined when bombing forward.
Blues centre backs looked uncomfortable and despite his goal Tomoki Iwata played like he was still in Japan and ditto Paik Seung-hp in Korea. The rest of the midfield were fairly ineffective, giving little support to Willumson and Stansfield. Also up top was Lyndon Dykes, who bustled around to very little affect
Some serious points are now being dropped and talk of an end of season record points tally is quickly becoming a pipe dream of almost laughable proportions. The manager needs to assess our current way of playing, which is best described as slow and predictable and gives the opposition lots of time to organise themselves.
Blues fans (and the board) should be expecting better given the money spent and Chris Davies may need to think hard about a Plan B.
