Blues too Impish for Lincoln

Andy Munro watches Blues win at Lincoln.

After just a minute Blues fans must have wondered whether the Charlton defeat was the start of a slide rather than a mere footballing blip.

A shaky start, however, is becoming a worrying habit but perhaps typical as teams full of early match energy flood forward to close down a Blues side who, let’s face it, have only had about a dozen matches to try and perfect a style of football more suited to the BernabĂ©u than Barnsley.

Luckily, this is also a Blues team full of talented individuals and yet again for the seemingly umpteenth time they pulled the game around to garner three points. It should also be recognised that Blues have a number of injuries to key players, hopefully though injuries more minor than major

It was particularly pleasing to see the impish( pardon the expression) Alfie May so influential in the absence of Jay Stansfield. Whilst he didn’t score, a non-stop display led to him being an influential figure in two of our goals. For the latter step forward, Keshi Anderson who is perhaps one of the team’s most influential players, albeit going about his business quietly and efficiently. In front of them Tomoki Iwata and Paik Seung-ho were an excellent shield whilst still finding time to influence matters going forward.

A word also for Ethan Laird, who came back to show his mettle and that he will be yet again challenging for a place in the side . On the topic of defence, Ben Davies came in to show how important strength in defence is and behind him Ryan Allsop not only brilliantly saved a penalty but was immaculate with his distribution and in the latter regard one hopes that Bailey Peacock-Farrell was watching!

Bolton are up next, showing that the games don’t get any easier.
