Feeling blue

Blues are relegated despite beating Norwich City but Andy Munro is Keeping Right On.

Blues finally fell through the trapdoor they’ve been too near for far too long and tragically did so when everything off the pitch looks so promising. For that I blame Gary Cook and not the American owners, who although ambitious know about as much about soccer as I know about nuclear science.

The game itself was one Blues deserved to edge with Koji Myoshi and Jay Stansfield the pick up front, Ivan Sunjic non-stop in midfield, and Krystian Bielik excellent at the back, as were our two full-backs, Incidentally, the sell-out crowd were superb in their vociferous support and pleasingly the half a dozen people nearest to where I sit all agreed that they would also be renewing their season tickets.

Unfortunately the win wasn’t enough and although Gary Rowett has done a decent job, we weren’t positive enough in the last couple of matches against the two doomed clubs and Rowett must take some of the blame for that.

Optimistically, I think the Blues can bounce straight back and maybe we need Barry Fry as a consultant (!) but joking apart some important decisions lie ahead on both whom we retain and who will be our next manager assuming that, as seems likely, this is the last we will see of Tony Mowbray in a management capacity.

Let’s hope the right decisions are made and if anybody owes us one it’s a certain Mr. Gary Cook. One would hope that we will see an influx of hungry young players and the less hungry ones going in the opposite direction.

Like most Blues fans, I will be mulling over my own view of a retained list and choice of managers but that can wait for another day! Keeping Right On.
