Blues outfoxed

Andy Munro reports back from Blues’ 2-1 defeat at Leicester City.

This defeat sent Blues down into the bottom three but getting beaten away at Leicester was never going to define how the season ends. In fact, it was a more than a decent display against a top of the table side bristling with talent.

Whilst Blues had a decent number of shots and shots on target the stats show that on that alone Leicester deserved to win with not only a higher number of goal attemptys, but predictably substantially more possession. However, we made a decent fist of it but failed to pick up points as yet again the team fell to a late winner. Probably the pick of the back four was Lee Buchanan, who made a number of vital clearances. Ethan Laird wasn’t far behind in doing a decent job in keeping the dangerous Leicester wide men comparatively quiet .

Without a doubt, the best performers in midfield were Paik Seung-ho and Koji Myoshi, who have undoubtedly been two of our best signings in recent times and hopefully will be key to ouyr chances next season, whatever division we are in. Whether we can keep Jay Stansfield if we go down is another matter given his very decent goal tally, even in a role up front as the loan ranger

We are now entering the last vital stage of the season with winnable matches and there now must be no excuses if we fail to get the results to stay up. Have the players got the bottle and mental fortitude to keep us up? The jury is currently out on that.
