No quick fix

Blues go down 1-0 at Middlesbrough as Andy Munro watches the Wayne Rooney era begin.

As we suspected, bringing in Wayne Rooney and his team might eventually be the right call but as the game at Middlesbrough showed, it will be no quick fix .

In Wayne’s World, attack is the best form of defence but playing three up front and with Ivan Sunjic playing wide, the team seemed to lack balance.Siriki Dembele also being moved from his highly-effective wide spot seemed a strange move, as did the return of Gary Gardner despite Rooney having talked up giving young players a chance.

‘Boro deserved to win given their superior corner and shot count but fair play to Blues defensively, who were fairly solid despite the pressure. However, I still look forward to the eventual return of both Lee Buchanan and Ethan Laird in the full-back positions when fit
