Black Country comic plays virtual Cinderella

Doreen Tipton launches online panto to support Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The much-loved Black Country comedian Doreen Tipton has launched a one-off online panto to support Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Dubbed the ‘saftest story ever told’, tickets for Doreen’s Cinderella – a hilarious half-hour show – can be purchased online, with profits going towards Acorns work caring for children and families across the Black Country.

Doreen plays every single character in the virtual performance, including Cinderella, Baron Hardup and Buttons. She said: “It’s been a very tough year for the panto industry, so the idea of me doing an online panto made a lot of sense.

“I wanted to make people loff with a slightly different take on the traditional story, but the icing on the cake was to dedicate the whole project to a great cause and raise some much-needed funds for the local children’s hospice!”

Tickets for Doreen’s Cinderella cost £4 and anyone signing up can watch it as often as they like, with all profits going to Acorns. The performance is also available free to members of Doreen’s own video platform, Nafflix.

Acorns Fundraising Manager, Zoe Baggott, said: “We’re so grateful to Doreen for coming up with such a fun, fabulous idea to help spread some Christmas magic at the end of the year!

“What better way to enjoy the fun and games, all from the comfort of your own home. So grab a mince pie, put on your best Christmas jumper and get yourself a ticket. The money raised will really make a difference to local children and their families.”

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides a network of specialist palliative care for children and support for their families. It costs the charity £27,000 a day to run its care services and it relies on fundraising for the bulk of that amount.
